When Stars Are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson, Omar Mohamed
This graphic novel was an amazing glimpse into the lives of children living in refugee camps in Africa. Told in a way that grabs the reader, and hopefully will draw in young reluctant readers, When the Stars Scatter is a work of memoir like no other. Omar's story of survival, hardship and eventual resettling in America will help young readers see how fortunate they are and have compassion for refugees and others less fortunate. But it is told in a compelling, illustrated form that will keep them enthralled till the end. This is an important read!!
